Prem Ratan Dhan Payo follows the story of Yuvraj Vijay Singh (Salman Khan), a reserved and wealthy prince on the brink of kingship, engaged to Princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor) but estranged from his siblings over family disputes. Vijay’s lookalike, Prem Dilwale, a cheerful stage actor who adores Maithili, steps into Vijay’s place after an attack leaves him gravely injured. Prem’s warmth reconciles the fractured family and rekindles Maithili’s love, even as Vijay’s half-brother Ajay (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and scheming advisor Chirag (Armaan Kohli) plot against him. As conflicts come to a head, Prem clears misunderstandings, leading to a final reconciliation. Maithili discovers Prem’s true identity, and the royal family reunites with him in a heartfelt conclusion.
